The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced a significant profit of Rs 11.06 billion for the first nine months of the current fiscal year, 2080-81 BS (2024-25). This profit comes from total revenue of Rs 93.94 billion, excluding tax, and total expenditures of Rs 82.88 billion, covering electricity purchases, administrative costs, and project investments.

NEA has maintained profitability since the fiscal year 2072-73 BS (2015-16), after overcoming previous annual losses of Rs 8.89 billion.

This sustained profitability reduces electricity leakage, increases domestic consumption, power exports to India, and strict cost management. Specifically, NEA earned Rs 68.89 billion from domestic power sales and Rs 13.42 billion from exporting surplus electricity to India.
