Application Deadline and Candidates
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has received 10 applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The deadline for applications was set until Sunday evening. Among the applicants are Krishna Bahadur Karki, who previously served as CEO, and Purna Prasad Acharya, former CEO of CDS and Clearing Limited.

According to the NEPSE Secretariat, the applicants include:
- Badri Prasad Pyakurel (Nuwakot)
- Narad Kumar Luintel (Sarlahi)
- Yuvaraj Dahal (Jhapa)
- Prabin Adhikari (Kavrepalanchok)
- Chudamani Chapagain (Jhapa)
- Bimalkumar Tiwari (Siraha)
- Hemant Basyal (Palpa)
- Mukundaraj Joshi (Dadeldhura)
NEPSE CEO Selection Process
The Recommendation Committee will now shortlist five candidates from the pool of applicants. These shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews and to present their work plans. Based on their performance, the committee will recommend three candidates to the government, which will then appoint the new CEO.
Background
The Ministry of Finance formed a three-member committee to oversee the CEO appointment process. The committee includes:
- Sewantak Pokharel, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, as Coordinator
- Amrit Lamsal, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, as Member
- Dr. Khomraj Kharel, as an Expert Member
NEPSE has been without a CEO since Magh 25 (February 8), following the end of Krishna Bahadur Karki’s tenure. The new CEO will be tasked with leading the stock exchange and addressing challenges in Nepal’s capital market.
