The government has recalled three candidates for interviews for the Nepal Securities Board chairperson position. Of the five shortlisted candidates, Santosh Narayan Shrestha and Muktinath Shrestha had already completed their interviews and presentations.
As the law mandates that at least three names be recommended to the Council of Ministers, the committee could not finalize its recommendations. Therefore, the remaining three shortlisted candidates—Krishna Bahadur Karki, Chiranjivi Chapagain, and Dr. Navaraj Adhikari—have been summoned for interviews on Mangsir 9 at 8 AM through a public notice.
This interview process, originally scheduled for Ashwin 18, was postponed due to the illness of the recommendation committee coordinator, Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari. The chairperson position has been vacant since Poush 20, 2080, following the end of the previous chairperson’s tenure.
Since the recommendation process could not be completed, the government attempted to initiate a new process. However, Santosh Narayan Shrestha, one of the shortlisted candidates, filed a case in the Supreme Court, arguing that there is no legal provision to start a new process. The court ordered the government not to begin a new process and scheduled a hearing for January 30.
With the old process still valid, the government has decided to proceed by completing the interviews and presentations of the remaining candidates.
