The Lumbini Province government has presented its budget for the Fiscal Year 2025/26, totaling Rs. 38.91 billion. The budget was made public during the 13th meeting of the Provincial Assembly’s sixth session.
Dhanendra Karki, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, explained that Rs. 12.1 billion is for current expenses, Rs. 23.47 billion for capital expenditures, and Rs. 3.42 billion for financial transfers. The main aim of this budget is to make Lumbini a Prosperous Province with Happy Citizens by focusing on developing key infrastructure, strengthening sectors like agriculture, tourism, and education, and ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth
Sector-wise Budget Allocation:
- Physical Infrastructure Development: Rs. 9.92 billion
- Urban Development and Water Supply: Rs. 5.62 billion
- Health: Rs. 4.95 billion
- Social Development: Rs. 3.61 billion
- Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation: Rs. 2.68 billion
- Agriculture, Land Management, and Cooperatives: Rs. 1.5 billion
Source of Finance:
For the budget, Rs. 7.78 billion will be collected from internal revenue, Rs. 11.86 billion from federal revenue sharing, Rs. 415 million from royalties, and Rs. 2.82 billion is expected from shared revenue of the local level.
Additionally, Rs. 8.44 billion will come from fiscal equalization grants, Rs. 4.66 billion from conditional grants, Rs. 514 million from complementary grants, Rs. 400 million from special grants, and Rs. 2 billion from current cash reserves.
